Your one idea may mean the world to someone else

Singapore, 29 April 2020 – Temasek Trust has launched the oscar@sg fund to support ground-up initiatives that respond to community needs in Singapore as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new oscar@sg fund will enable initiatives and ideas and empower our community to look out for one another in these crucial times of need. By encouraging and supporting ground-up movements, Temasek Trust hopes to advocate and catalyse positive community action by our people and emerge better and stronger together.

To be anchored by a S$10 million gift from Temasek, Temasek Trust will manage the oscar@sg fund to support projects that embrace the values of Ownership, Sustainability, Care, Assurance, Resilience (OSCAR). This programme will provide up to $5,000 of direct sponsorship, and further match a “dollar-for-dollar” of third-party funding sources of up to $50,000, with a provision to increase up to $100,000 in exceptional cases.

United in Adversity

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw a number of ground-up movements by civic-minded people and institutions designed to help our communities in distress. Doing Good has always been part of Temasek’s value. That’s why we wish to help more ground-up initiatives kick-start their efforts by providing them with some financial assistance. We also hope the oscar@sg fund will help galvanise people and institutions to come together to launch their own action programmes to help our communities in this difficult time,” said Robin Hu, Head, Sustainability & Stewardship Group, Temasek.

We believe sometimes the best and the most effective ideas come from ground-up. Through the oscar@sg fund, Temasek Trust aims to support meaningful ground-up initiatives that seek to address community needs exacerbated by the present COVID-19 crisis. We believe everyone can participate in the nation’s fight against COVID-19.”
